Settings overview

A tour of the Settings page: General, Payroll, Pension, Leave policies, Public holidays, Onboarding templates, Email providers, Account codes, HMRC ref.

Settings sections

General

  • Tenant name — appears in payslips and emails
  • Currency — default GBP
  • Public holiday region — England & Wales / Scotland / Northern Ireland
  • Leave year start — calendar year (1 Jan) or anniversary

Payroll

  • Pay frequency — monthly / 4-weekly / fortnightly / weekly
  • Period end day — drives auto-populated period dates
  • Payment lag days — between period end and payment hit date
  • PAYE reference — your HMRC employer reference (needed for RTI when HMRC RTI submission is enabled)
  • Accounts office reference — HMRC

Pension

  • Provider name + scheme reference
  • Default employee + employer rates
  • Contribution mode — RAS / net_pay / SS
  • Qualifying earnings band

Leave policies

  • Per-policy: name, allowance, accrual method, carry-over, paid/unpaid
  • Statutory link (SMP/SPP/SSP/etc.)

Public holidays

  • Auto-loaded UK calendars (England/Scotland/NI)
  • Add custom company days (e.g. "Founders' day off")

Onboarding templates

  • Default template (auto-applied on hire)
  • Per-template: items with task_type, due_day_offset, blocking flag

Email providers

  • Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace / Resend
  • One active at a time
  • Test send button

Payroll account codes (Xero export)

  • Per-export-format account mappings
  • Override the defaults (477/478/479/814/815/816 for Xero)

Audit log access

  • (coming soon — direct UI)

Permissions

Settings is admin-only by default. payroll_admin can edit Payroll + Pension sections but not General or Onboarding templates.

Coming soon

A Settings search bar + an in-app changelog of recent settings edits. Today, audit log captures every change to a settings card.
