Public holidays

Blankitt HR ships with UK public holiday calendars loaded for the current + next year:

  • England & Wales
  • Scotland (extra: 2 Jan, St Andrew's Day)
  • Northern Ireland (extra: St Patrick's Day, Battle of the Boyne)

Where they show up

When an employee books leave that includes a public holiday, those days are not debited from the balance. The team calendar shows public holidays as faded grey blocks.

Setting the region

Per-tenant setting under Settings > General. The dropdown picks which of the three regional calendars to use as the default for all employees.

Per-employee override

For multi-region teams (e.g. a Scottish employee on an England-default tenant), you can override the region on the employee's Employment tab. Their personal leave bookings will use the override.

Custom holidays

To add a non-statutory company-wide closed-day (e.g. a "founders' day"), go to Settings > Public holidays > Add custom day. These flow into the balance calculation the same way as statutory ones.
