FAQ
What roles exist in Blankitt HR?
Six roles cover most needs: Admin, Manager, Payroll Admin, Recruiter, Employee, and Calibration Moderator. Granted to users in the Portal under Users.
The six roles
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Admin | Everything. Manage employees, run payroll, configure settings, finalise pay runs, manage users |
| Manager | Approve their direct reports' leave, see reports' reviews and contracts, lock reports' calibration |
| Payroll Admin | Create, calculate and finalise pay runs; manage tax codes, student loans, salary sacrifice and pension. Can't edit the org structure |
| Recruiter | Manage jobs, candidates, interviews and offers. Accepting an offer creates the employee. Can't edit existing employees beyond that flow |
| Employee | Self-service only — their own profile, leave, documents, payslips, onboarding, reviews and feedback |
| Calibration Moderator | Run cross-manager calibration sessions and override locked reviews. Usually granted just during a calibration cycle |
Granting a role
- Sign into Portal (portal.blankitt.com)
- Open Users
- Click the user you want to assign a role to
- Find the HR product card and set the Role
- Save
Takes effect on the user's next sign-in (or within a few hours automatically).
Removing a role
Same place — set the role to None, or remove the HR product from the user entirely. They lose access on their next request.
Multiple roles
Each user has one HR role at a time. If you need someone to do two things, give them the higher-privilege role (usually Admin). Mixing roles (e.g. "manager and payroll admin") isn't supported — kept simple by design.
Tenant member fallback
If you've added someone to your company in Portal but haven't assigned them an HR role yet, they default to Admin so they're never locked out of their own organisation. Once you're live, assign explicit roles so the principle of least privilege applies.
