Which pension providers are supported?

Any provider — Blankitt HR is provider-agnostic and records contributions for export. Direct API integration with NEST and People's Pension is on the way.

Set the provider name and scheme reference in Settings > Pension. Blankitt HR reads your contribution rates and mode and calculates the employee + employer contributions on each pay run.

Contributions appear:

  • On the payslip (employee and employer)
  • In CSV exports to Xero, Sage and BrightPay

You then file the contributions with your pension provider (NEST, People's Pension, Aviva, Standard Life, or another) through their own admin portal — usually a monthly file upload.

Direct in-product integration with:

  • NEST — automatic monthly contribution file upload
  • People's Pension — same

That'll save the monthly manual file step for those two providers (which between them cover most UK small businesses).

For other providers, the CSV export path continues indefinitely — most pension admin portals accept the same standard contribution file format.

Contribution modes

Blankitt HR's engine supports the three UK standard modes:

  • Relief at source (RAS) — most common for NEST and People's Pension
  • Net pay — immediate tax relief, useful for higher-rate taxpayers
  • Salary sacrifice (SS) — strongest tax efficiency but reduces contractual salary

Default is RAS. Set the mode when configuring the provider.

See Pension contributions: relief at source vs net pay vs salary sacrifice for the trade-offs.
