What the audit log contains
Every sensitive action in Blankitt HR is logged with who did it, what they did, when, and from where. See What does the audit log capture? for the full list.
Where to view it today
Per-record timeline
The pages with the richest audit visibility are the ones that touch sensitive data. They each show a per-record timeline:
- Signature envelope detail — full chronology from created through signed
- Pay run detail — created, calculated, finalised, voided events
- Calibration session detail — opens, overrides, close
- Employee detail > activity tab (coming soon) — every change to that employee
For most everyday questions ("when was this signed?", "who finalised this run?"), these timelines have what you need.
Cross-area queries
For questions that span employees, time periods, or actions ("who finalised any pay run in March?", "all changes by Alex last week"), a dedicated audit-log viewer is on the way as part of an upcoming polish slice.
In the meantime, email support@blankitt.com with your question and we'll search the log and return the relevant entries. Typical turnaround: same business day.
What support will ask for
To speed up the search, include:
- Roughly when (date range)
- Who or what was affected (employee name, pay run period, envelope title)
- What kind of action you're looking for (a salary change, a deletion, etc.)
Compliance use cases
The audit log is most often pulled for:
- GDPR data-access requests — to show what was accessed and by whom
- Internal investigations — disciplinary, suspected fraud, accidental change
- HMRC enquiries — to show who authorised a payroll finalise
- Insurance / certification — to demonstrate access controls
Retention
Audit events are kept indefinitely by default. If you need a shorter window for compliance reasons (e.g. specific data retention policies), contact support.
