FAQ
Can I approve documents I raised myself?
No — the engine excludes the raiser from the approver pool as a segregation-of-duties control.
No — the engine excludes the raiser from the approver pool by default, even if your role matches the policy's approver criteria. This is a deliberate segregation-of-duties control and can't be turned off. If you're the only person with the approval role (e.g. solo founder, one-person tenant), you have two options: configure a different role (admin, accountant, owner) as the approver on the policy so a second person handles sign-off, or set the policy threshold high enough that small and routine items skip approval entirely and only material values get routed. Self-delegation is blocked for the same reason — you can't route your own approvals back to yourself via a delegate chain.
